With a new mini EP returned The Tubeheads. With a garage and surf character, the band presented four tracks contained in the album titled 'Milk Crate Throne'. With a handful of official releases already under their belt, they present their debut EP, now available on Ltd Edition cassette.
A few words about the band
The The Tubeheads are the brainchild of Reece Clayton, a native, seaside artist from England's northwest coast. The project is a neo-60s / garage rock outfit that combines lively melodies with the hazy tones of yesteryear, evoking the garage rock music scene of the 1960s.
On the music
This is an EP containing just four tracks. But that's enough to get a taste of what the band is up to. Its songs are lovely and carry the lightness of 60s music. Listening to them, you'd swear you were in Grease! Skinny jeans, leather jacket, dancing along to the band's wonderful surf / garage rock groove. The sounds the band uses are relatively 'clean' and drenched in reverb. It's almost like hearing the echo of the seaside, on a musical journey the band offers us.
Editor's Choice: 'I Don't Care'
The track we picked out at Fuzzy Hound is this one. It's a song with strong atmospheric elements and a 'sticky' riff! It could easily be echoing through the pubs of Manchester as we enjoy our pint! The highlight of the track is the point where the Harmonica melodies come in.
In conclusion
Fast, short and striking. That's what the tracks of The Tubeheadsare. Tracks that could mainly have sprung from this particular music culture. From 'Ι Don't Care', to 'Baby Please', from 'Garage Stomp Shuffle' all the way to the title track 'Milk Crate Throne', the tracks will win you over 100%. A dynamic start for the project of Reece Clayton, which we hope to see complete its first full album soon.
