Leave The Wave are a band that seem to stand on this ground with confidence, something that becomes clear with the album Disturbance.

The Cypriot scene keeps producing interesting outfits in recent years and Leave The Wave are a band that seem to stand on this ground with confidence. With the album Disturbance, the band presents a sound that clearly draws on grunge and alternative rock, while at the same time trying to maintain a more contemporary approach, both musically and thematically.
With the aura of grunge
The record is built on heavy but melodic guitars, punchy rhythms and an overall sense of tension that recalls the raw energy of classic grunge. The compositions don't try to impress with technical excess; instead, they invest in the power of the riff, in the right atmosphere and in the emotional charge that always characterised this idiom.
One of the tracks that grabs your attention is "Control Your Brain", a song with an unmistakable social and political undercurrent. The lyrics are delivered from the point of view of an arrogant politician who talks cynically about control, power and the manipulation of people. This reversal of perspective gives the track a dark, almost sarcastic character that works as a comment on modern reality.

Musically, the song moves along a punchy groove with fierce guitars and a gradual build-up of tension that leads into a particularly aggressive chorus. George Solonos' production keeps the sound direct and "live", which helps the compositions preserve the feel of a band that functions first and foremost as a live act.
In conclusion
All in all, Disturbance shows a band that knows exactly what it wants to do. Leave The Wave aren't trying to reinvent the wheel, but to play punchy, honest rock with intensity and substance. And that's enough to grab the attention of anyone who loves the raw, genuine character of grunge.
