The Fall – Live from St. Helens Technical College, '81' arrives exclusively on vinyl (with a digital download card), on February 19th via Castle Face. Below, take a look at the first single, "Leave the Capitol", originally released in 1981 from the Slates EP.
A recording that comes to us from the past
The recording resurfaced thanks to BBC Radio 6 presenter and former Fall bassist Marc Riley. As he told Rolling Stone, he discovered the set and brought it to Castle Face label head John Dwyer (of Osees) to put together an official release. Half of the proceeds from the release will be donated to Centrepoint, a UK-based organisation that provides housing and support to marginalised young people in London, Manchester and other cities.
"I've had the joy of being a fan of The Fall since I was a teenager. I was lucky enough to have some guidance from my local record shop," Dwyer said in a statement. "They turned me on to a lot of my heroes, but the moment I heard my first song and that barky Fall sound, I was part of their 'army' for life… The Fall's live performances are always flawless because they seem to take whatever already made Fall great and push it even further into rough and bloody, uncharted terrain, scorched with drugs: proto-punk and saturated political poetry."

In 2018, The Fall's longtime frontman, E. Mark, died at the age of 60.
