ORRA: 'Music came early into our lives!'
ORRA talk exclusively to Fuzzy Hound about their record 'Unbounded' and their future plans. Come let's meet ORRA! After the arrival of their record 'Unbounded', the band opens up to us exclusively on Fuzzy Hound! How did music come into your lives?
By Dimitris (Bari) Polyzois

What was the spark that got you into it?
'Music came very early into our lives, it was there from our first steps. I can't pinpoint exactly what the spark was. It's probably to do with a natural pull towards artistic expression through sound. Or maybe it's just a DNA thing.'
When was the band formed and who gave it its name?
'It was formed in 2019, but we took the form we're in today in February 2020.
The "godfather" is bassist Minornoiser, we decided to pick the name ΩЯRΑ ((Hour/Time)) because it refers to time, the name is in Greek, we don't need Anglo-Saxon crutches.'
What were your first musical listens? Are there artists or bands who have positively influenced your musical path? Also, recommend us 2-3 records we should listen to.
'Our first musical listens have to do with classical music. As for our listening more generally, I'd say there are so many it's hard to pick out any in particular.
I also want to say that there's always a "wrong" approach taken when it comes to the musical influences a musician receives. Music is a form of art. The arts interact with each other, so we're influenced by painting, literature, the applied arts, and by the flow of history. For a musician to only cite musical influences probably means they have a limited artistic outlook. Given the occasion, I'd recommend listening to the 1st movement of the 2nd Symphony "Resurrection" by Mahler, heavy, very heavy metal for the few…'

Do you believe today's youth love music, have good listening habits, or does "quality" no longer concern them?
'A not-at-all negligible part of the youth – and not only them, it's unfair to "excommunicate" the young – loves social media. They take selfies, write all sorts of nonsense on FB and showcase the general foolishness of their everyday lives.
Thankfully there are also young people who have an opinion and understanding of music. But for the majority, it's an effort to listen to a track that goes past 2.5 minutes. Generally the masses always go for the minimum, the easy way…'
How can someone get in touch with you, and where?
'On Facebook, YouTube, Spotify, iTunes. Basically, through our social media channels.'
'Unbounded' is admittedly an album worth listening to. We'd like you to tell us a bit about it. What inspired you, how long did it take, how many songs does it contain, and why should we add it to our record collection.
'This work was a bet with ourselves, we consciously decided to make something extreme, outside the limited frameworks of today. We draw inspiration from themes to do with mythology, the fantastical, and from personal experiences. The album consists of 6 tracks, two of which are trilogies.
"Should" sounds a bit demanding, I'd say we'd just be happy for someone to hear a sample of our work and decide to put our album on their list.'
What message would you like to send to young people?
'Fewer posts and less self-promotion wouldn't hurt. A trip to a library or a bookshop too. And of course, listen to Music in a pure and meaningful way, without the "wrapping" that some people want to keep it in. There are also tracks over 3 minutes long, by the way.'
