The Pigeonhole Project & Trivial Dimes @ Underathens Association
In an evening full of wonderful music, The Pigeonhole Project and Trivial Dimes performed after quite some time at Underathens Association.
By Dimitris (Bari) Polyzois

Thursday night, 03.11.22, and the Underathens Association (Facebook, Instagram) hosted The Pigeonhole Project in their first live show after eight months. Opening the night were Trivial Dimes.
A wonderful Thursday night!
With the weather being "sweet" and unusually warm for the season, Thursday night would find me heading down towards the centre of Athens and Avramiotou to reach Underathens Association. So many new things about the night… Eager to discover not just a new gig venue for me (it was my first time going to Underathens), but also to hear two acts that were also new to me… As it turned out, the musical result rewarded me in full!

Underathens is an excellent multi-space venue
The Underathens isn't a place that stands out or is easy to spot for someone passing by. You need to know exactly what you're looking for to find it. And that's one of the positive things about the venue. Furthermore, it's important to stress that this isn't just a simple place that puts on live shows. It's an art space, very carefully put together and distinctive. Talking with the owner, I got the chance to see the philosophy behind the venue. It's a little dot of culture, where you'll find a warm environment to house your love for music and theatre.
In this particular place, everything from music gigs to theatrical performances are put on. On the other hand, if you're a band, you can use the place to make music, hold rehearsals and feed your musical explorations. All of this under the umbrella of mutual trust and respect.
A place I didn't believe existed.
The Underathens Association is a place straight out of a movie. Warm and full of beautiful sights, it will be the driving force for your inspirations. A bohemian, underground space to house your musical ideas.

Kicking off with Trivial Dimes
The Trivial Dimes while working on their own debut album, took to the stage for the first time to introduce themselves to the audience. With their songs showing huge promise, they definitely won us over and left us eagerly awaiting the album and, why not, a future live show. This is a band with an intense alternative rock style and a fresh musical perspective. Given that this was their first appearance, we can only take a positive view of the way they played, their sound, which was very tight and full-bodied, and their energy. We can't wait to see what they have in store for us in the future!

The Pigeonhole Project: As if not a day had passed
As the night went on The Pigeonhole Project took the baton and gave us a taste of their music. Offering a little over an hour of musical wandering, they presented a mix of old and new songs of theirs.

The band moves along an alternative rock path. At first glance, their basic musical foundations lie in grunge. However, there's a strong brit rock flavour as well. Specifically, the timbre of Marios's voice is very reminiscent of classic brit rock bands. Also, in Pigeonhole's music we could find plenty of indie rock elements too. The songs that didn't have Marios as lead vocalist, but Lefteris instead, had a noticeably different style. These had something closer to the American sound. At this point we should highlight both guys' excellent diction, which really brings out the songs.

Generally, the band's music is based on a clean and slightly crunchy sound, a fact that emphasises the dynamics in the band's songs. Their songs are simple, intense and on target. They aim straight for the listener's heart and lift it up!
An excellent first encounter!
To my eyes, the night was excellent. The Pigeonhole Project and Trivial Dimes managed to delight their audience. By the end of the show, the crowd -myself included- was demanding an encore! As for the venue, I got to know a place that genuinely has a lot of interesting features and empowers the artistic element. Musically speaking, both bands showed some really lovely things on stage and ultimately made us enjoy our night of music. The only certain thing is that we left with a smile on our faces! Not that we wanted to leave, mind you! See you at the next live show!
