"Report: Savage Republic, Coyote's Arrow | An Club | 14.01.23"
An Club was shaken by the melodies of Savage Republic and Coyote's Arrow. Το Λαγωνικό was at the concert and brings you the vibe! On Saturday 14/01, in the year of our lord 2023, the legendary and forever evergreen Savage Republic visited our country for the umpteenth time….
By Dimitris (Bari) Polyzois

The concert took place in a historic musical venue as well, the An Club (Facebook, Instagram) in Exarcheia. The concert was part of the tour promoting the band's latest album with the Greek title "Meteora", which brings them back to our country and to their beloved concert venue. The evening was opened, with a slight delay, by our own Coyote's Arrow. The sextet, evenly split between the 2 sexes, is made up of members of legendary bands from the domestic scene, such as Deus Ex Machina and Νonmandol.

Coyote's Arrow
Never having seen them live before, I confess I was won over by the combination of punk and groovy rhythms, while the band showed they're built for powerful live shows! Their songs are built with psychedelic notes and Native American war cries, while the arrangement includes various instruments and sounds, from keyboards, maracas, kazoo and other percussion (…more cowbell). The band's energy lifted the crowd's mood, who, judging by their look and age groups, had come to see the headliners of the evening, but nonetheless enjoyed the performance of Coyote's Arrow. I'm certain we'll cross paths with the band again soon in some smoke-filled venue of the city.

Savage Republic
The place of the greek supporters on the stage of An Club, was taken by the 2 metal barrels that would accompany Savage Republic on their return to Greece. And if you haven't seen them live before, like me, you get a taste of what's coming. For the next 2 hours, the band from Los Angeles and their love affair with our country (how many more songs will they give Greek titles to!), took us on a journey through industrial punk paths and psychedelic landscapes. Playing songs from their latest work as well as from their entire discography, they showed that no matter how many years go by, if the heart is willing, the body follows. Relentless throughout the whole live show, they poured out soul and energy that newer bands just can't muster, while no one stuck to a single role for the whole evening, but jumped from instrument to instrument, with no taboo about which is their main instrument, and with the percussion getting their moment of glory (barrels, as we said….). An Club An Club was shaken to its core!

And just when you think a live show can't get any better, Blaine L. Reininger of TUXEDOMOON steps onto the stage to accompany them on violin, with whom they've also collaborated on record, on the album VARVAKIOS by SAVAGE REPUBLIC, released in 2012.
The psychedelic experimentation and endless jamming hit the red zone with the participation of Reininger, who, as I found out, is a resident of Greece (hence his presence on the night). Shortly before the end of the evening, the band called up to the stage the drummer of Coyote's Arrow, Εύα Κολομβού, to accompany them at the end of a live show that ended just as it started: with the decibels from the percussion in the red. A thoroughly satisfying live show that left old and new fans of the band happy, and I'm sure they'll be back in our stomping grounds for similar nights!
