Κασσάνδρα – 'Στη Μέρα των Νεκρών': A different kind of album

In November the Κασσάνδρα released their second full-length work titled "Στη Μέρα των Νέκρων ". A record with 8 new rock tracks that sway between the Greek-language Rock, Punk, Metal we've come to love. They also weave in more modern sounds, creating a result that's bound to grab the audience's attention.

Two types of tracks stand out on the record

Let's take a look at the songs on the record. You could split it into two parts, namely the fast tracks and the ballads. In the first part, among the fast, light, rousing tracks we have: the Hard & Heavy "Ο Κόσμος Μηχανή", the Punk Rock one with fast solos "Χειμώνας με Ομίχλη", the "Ήρθε η ώρα" is the harshest track on the record, "Η μοναξιά της ηδονής" is a very interesting track because it leans on melodies from the fifties and sixties played with a fresh new sound, and "Είμαι ζωντανός" a fast Hard and Heavy track with a technical solo, pleasant to listen to. In the second category we have the ballads.

The ballad-like "Τρέξε" starts off slow and melancholic, and as time goes by the pace picks up with harsher riffs, "Κάνε να βρέξει" is the record's showstopper. A blazing ballad, melancholic, with the piano taking the lead role, and the amazing duet between Jester and Αρετή Βαλαβανοπούλου that makes it stand out and “Στη μέρα των νεκρών” with influences from great Metal artists and acts. The second track that stands out on the album, with melancholic guitar melodies switching from slow to fast and back to slow tempo again, and melodic solos that touch the hearts of listeners.

A very promising follow-up!

The Κασσάνδρα with this work of theirs, they outdid themselves. The addition of Κώστα Βρετού gave the band new life, managing to incorporate a lot of elements from the domestic and foreign Hard Rock & Heavy scene, as well as melodies from bygone eras. An album that deserves a spot in your record collection.
