inneRvoice – ’12 ΜηΆσματα’: A multifaceted record

Kicking off with a full album are inneRvoice. The Athenian band released their debut record titled ‘12 ΜηΆσματα‘.

A few words about the band

The inneRvoice are a four-piece band based in Athens. Musically they move within the broad spectrum of Rock, using as their main interpretive vehicle Rap with Greek lyrics. In February 2022 they released their first full-length record titled «12 ΜηΆσματα». A musical summary of the band's recent years, where hard rock elements harmoniously coexist all the way through to swing and unplugged (μη)άσματα meet hip hop beats. 12 different facets, 12 different stories that spring from the same...inner voice.

A wealth of elements

Listening to the band's music, one could say it presents a lot of interesting things. We couldn't say it's based on one specific genre. On the contrary, the members have taken alternative / hard rock and added Greek lyrics in rap form. This alone makes for a genre of music that's very interesting and different from the rest. The combination, even though the elements the band tries to bring together are far apart, doesn't sound the least bit foreign or mismatched. And that's because, on one hand, they add instruments and melodies that act as a bridge between the 2 basic styles being blended. On the other hand, the addition of second vocals in quite a few tracks softens the texture and content of the rap lyrics considerably.

Overall, the result is spot on and what reaches our ears is very high-quality and polished. One might say it looks like a new wave of rap / hip-hop music. A wave that seems to work seamlessly even with styles of music we'd have called, until yesterday, foreign to rap. The inneRvoice are here though, reminding us with ‘12 ΜηΆσματα‘, that imagination and talent trump style of music. It's worth listening to the record and letting it take you on a journey through its powerful lyrics and gorgeous melodies.
