Fantastic Negrito | 22.07.25 | Θέατρο Δόρα Στράτου, Φιλοπάππου
The one and only Fantastic Negrito returns to Greece. Tuesday 22 July, at Θέατρο Δόρα Στράτου, for a blues gig that will set body and soul swaying!
By Dimitris (Bari) Polyzois

The story of Fantastic Negrito (Xavier Amin Dphrepaulezz) is a true testament to resilience and to the transformative power of music. His life has been recounted many times over – growing up in a strict Muslim household, the record deal with a major that went nowhere, the near-fatal car crash that left his guitar-playing hand permanently damaged – as well as his stunning comeback in 2015, when he won the very first NPR Tiny Desk Contest.

Three GRAMMY® awards in the "Best Contemporary Blues Album" category
Since then, he has won three GRAMMY® awards for "Best Contemporary Blues Album" and has shared the stage with the likes of Sturgill Simpson, Chris Cornell and Bruce Springsteen. In the studio he has worked with artists such as Sting, E-40 and Tank and The Bangas, while touring the world and playing festivals including Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, Newport Folk and WOMAD. Alongside all that, he founded Revolution Plantation, an urban farm dedicated to educating and empowering young people.

In October 2024 he released his long-awaited new album on his own label, Storefront Records. "Son of a Broken Man" showcases his singular style, from muscular guitar riffs to expressive ballads, with the unpredictable turns that have become his trademark. It is one of his most personal works to date, exploring themes of family and deception as well as the human urge to hide our true selves, while diving deep into the timeless struggle between father and son.
2025 marks the 10th anniversary of Fantastic Negrito's victory in the inaugural NPR Tiny Desk Contest and of his grand return to the music world.
