The frontman of Foo Fighters was the fifth and most famous drummer of Νιρβάνα. He played with the iconic grunge trio until the death of frontman Kurt Cobain in 1994. Speaking in a new interview he gave, Grohl discussed a live Nirvana concert. According to his own words, he would only take part as a drummer, alongside former bandmates Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear. Finally, he stressed how he still dreams about the band.
"I still dream that there's an empty arena waiting for us to play."
"I wouldn't feel comfortable singing a song that Kurt sang," he said. "I feel perfectly at home playing these songs on drums. And I love playing them with Krist and Pat and another singer."
"I still have dreams that we're in Νιρβάνα, that we're still a band," added Dave Grohl. "I still dream that there's an empty arena waiting for us to play," he continued.
"But I don't sit at home and play Smells Like Teen Spirit by myself. It's just a reminder that the person responsible for those beautiful songs isn't with us anymore. It's bittersweet."

Grohl, Novoselic and Smear reunited to play Nirvana songs on January 4, 2020. It was a benefit concert for the non-profit arts organization, Art Of Elysium. They were joined by St. Vincent, Beck, and Grohl's daughter, Violet, who took on vocal duties.
Last week (January 6), several never-before-seen photos of Νιρβάνα were published online. The shots were taken by photographer Richard Davis. They were from the band's second show in the United Kingdom, on October 24, 1989.
