The Ava Toton is a rising singer, guitarist and songwriter from Oakland, Northern California. At just 12 years old, Ava is often referred to as a musical prodigy. Her second EP “Charm School Dropout” is available on all streaming platforms.
A rising artist
All the songs on Charm School Dropout were written by Ava, who also wrote the lyrics. Her unique vocals shine, and Ava makes her mark on every song she sings with how masterfully she plays her guitar. The album's production, mixing and mastering were done by Jacob Light at ModernTone Studios (Facebook, Instagram) in Lafayette, California.
Production and composition that suit Ava perfectly
Ava has a huge stage presence and this comes through on her EP. The foundation is the wonderful rhythmic guitars, insanely fast solos, and Ava's energy and urgency on vocals. Then, the drums also play a significant role. Behind them looms a powerful rock drummer who can keep pace with her and provide the kind of drumming that fits the sound like a glove. This is Gideon Berger (Useless ID, War Bison, Kill The Drive), one of the busiest session drummers in the Bay Area.
The Charm School Dropout is like a rollercoaster ride. Thrilling, fast, and shows no mercy. The band is tight and aggressive as Ava's voice drives the narrative. This is the perfect record for anyone who loves heavy music. Ava Toton has a ton of talent and proves it in every single minute of music.
Unique elements
What makes Ava Toton and her discography so unique is the fact that she doesn't go easy on any of her songs. It never crosses the listener's mind that the masterful artistry in front of them comes from such a young artist. On what is already her second EP, Ava Toton has already become a huge inspiration for rockers everywhere, young and old. She wants to show the world that rock and roll isn't dead, and to introduce this music to her generation.
Ava made her first EP (A.V.A.) during the COVID-19 lockdown. She spent time writing her songs and recording demos. In COVID's second year, she wrote the EP Charm School Dropout.
Quality-wise, Ava's music impresses. After a 2-year break from performing, Ava Toton is surely itching to get back on stage. For our part, we can't wait for those shows, but also for a more fully-fledged album.
