The Veils return to Athens after many years away, with a new album and the intensity turned right up. They play ARCH Club on Saturday 7 November.
Following the reception of Asphodels in 2025, Finn Andrews’s band are back with Fragile World on V2 Records — a record marking a sharp shift in sound and energy: more direct, rawer, more urgent.
It was recorded live to tape in New Zealand by Paddy Hill and produced by Tom Healy (Tiny Ruins, The Chills). With almost no arrangements settled in advance, and Andrews splitting most of the instruments with Healy, the album was built nearly from nothing in a matter of weeks. The title reads both as a comment on an age in which certainties are collapsing, and as a metaphor for making the thing itself: fragile, unstable, and capable of producing something strong.
Since signing to Rough Trade when Andrews was just 16, The Veils have released eight studio albums. They worked with El-P on Total Depravity, and their music has been used by Paolo Sorrentino, Tim Burton and David Lynch. Of their live shows the Guardian wrote of “Herculean intensity”, Pitchfork of “magnetic clamor”.
The Black Tabasco
Opening are The Black Tabasco, a four-piece indie rock-blues band formed in Athens in 2018: Jorge jr. Cangrejo (guitar, vocals), Kostas Papadakis (drums), Vangelis Emmanouil (guitars) and Panos Skentzos (bass). After the debut Bite The Pepper (2021), their second album Animal Love arrived in April 2026.
