The track will be released on January 21st.
The song was put together with the aim of raising money for those hit hard by the current pandemic. All proceeds from I Know What Love go to MusiCares. This particular charity provides support to artists. Its services relate to mental and physical health, addiction recovery, hearing clinics, and assistance for those affected by COVID-19.
Taylor's artists will also present an exclusive live performance of the song. This will take place on the website for NAMM's Believe In Music Week, which will be held on January 21st.
The I Know What Love Is is written by Keith Goodwin and co-produced by Jay Parkin of Taylor Guitars. Goodwin noted: "During lockdown, one of the hardest things for me was trying to adjust. I couldn't get used to not having my friends around to play music with."
"This project really helped me focus on making music. At a time when everything else in life had changed so drastically. I'm grateful for this opportunity to connect and collaborate with such great artists and for a good cause. We're all lucky to be able to share our love of music."
The song came together with the goal of raising money for those hit hard by the current pandemic.
The song was originally not meant to feature so many artists. However, Parkin realized early in the mixing process that the song could become even bigger. "It's a combination of a Hey Jude and a We Are the World vibe." He then described his reaction as the track reached dozens of Taylor artists. "The song itself just felt beautiful. The whole point was supporting musicians and bringing people together. As soon as we started reaching out to the music community and getting parts back. We started seeing how all the pieces fit together to create an anthem of hope for 2021."
The artists who took part recorded over 200 parts in total from their home studios. And that's on top of the parts they sent in for the music video. You can see the result filmed on the website of Taylor.
Singer-songwriter KT Tunstall was one of the 54 artists who contributed to the song. She specifically noted: "So many brilliantly talented crews, teams and artists have been hit financially by the arrival of COVID-19. We hope you got a little relief from that pain through MusiCares."
I Know What Love Is is now on streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify. Additionally, the Taylor Artists will appear live, playing the track on NAMM's Believe In Music TV. You can also buy the song on iTunes.
