Atmospheric sounds, cosmic energy and dynamic, detailed textures are the basic ingredients for every record by Daniel Dorobanțu. While Dorobanțu has always given his listeners ambient, pulsating music, he's turned his musical journey into a journey of transcendence. The Romanian artist teams up with Mircea Ardeleanu Jr for a new, more elaborate version of the song "Chip de Tăcere", taken from the album "Veșnicii“.
A work built on his musical ideas
Rather than fitting into a genre, his work is all about ideas. Moving beyond the conventions of the genre, he has managed to craft stunning compositions. On "Chip de Tăcere", Daniel Dorobanțu continues the same atmospheric, spiritual odyssey that defines his style. But a new, luminous world reveals itself the moment you hear Mircea's cimbalom.

According to Daniel Dorobanțu, every song on the album "Veșnicii" expresses a contemplative exploration of the concept of eternity. "After releasing the album, I started inviting other musicians to do the same with me. The first to respond was Maria Hojda, and we put out a new version of a track she picked, "Înflorirea De Lumini“.

About the track
Sound-wise, 'Chip de Tăcere' is now twice as long, so Mircea had more room to explore and express himself. "He then created five cimbalom pieces, all freely improvised. Working through them, they turned out to be in great harmony with the album's vision. One of these three pieces was more musical than the rest and it appears in the final mix as it was.
The other two were processed with a piece of experimental AI software released recently, which can turn certain acoustic instruments into other acoustic instruments, an oboe into a flute, for example. The AI hadn't been trained on cimbalom, so, naturally, the results were quite unexpected and original for me. I then went into the studio where Attila Lukinich mixed it all, so that the result would be a natural part of the sonic landscape of the album "Veșnicii"", Dorobanțu reflects.
Conceptually, "Chip de Tăcere" is the expression of three different explorations of the same landscape: Daniel's, Mircea's and Attila's (mixing and mastering). It's there in the orchestration, in the electronics and in the theme: the expression of a contemplative and intuitive exploration of the concept of eternity. Of course, Dorobanțu's fans know his knack for crafting a musical mosaic with transcendent characters that offer cosmic, infinite perspectives. The fact that Daniel Dorobanțu and Mircea Ardeleanu Jr. complement each other so perfectly is real proof of their gift for creating honest, universal music.
