The 13th Bridges International Film Festival wraps up today

The curtain falls with the 'Χρυσός Πήγασος' Awards Ceremony, at the Αλεξάνδρειο Συνεδριακό Κέντρο, in Λουτράκι. The event will be hosted by actress Ελένη Πετροπούλου, while artist Ελένη Φιλίνηis also being honoured. There will also be a musical programme from the Νεανική Ορχήστρα του Καλογεροπούλειου Ωδείου. The event kicks off at 18:00.

The orchestra was a goal from the very moment the Καλογεροπούλειο Ωδείο was created

The Νεανική Μαθητική Ορχήστρα του Καλογεροπούλειου Ωδείου/Ιδρύματος Τεχνών και Πολιτισμού was founded in 2020 by the Artistic Director of the Ωδείο, Παναγιώτης Θεοδοσίου. Not only to serve the collaborative needs of its students, but also to make real the goal that the late founder Νικόλαος Καλογερόπουλος had set from the very start. The creation of a Symphony Orchestra that, through its artistic and educational work, would contribute to the cultural upgrading of the wider Κορινθία region and beyond.

On the road to achieving this goal, the Νεανική Μαθητική Ορχήστρα του Καλογεροπούλειου is made up of students playing every available instrument, both from the Ωδείο itself and from other musical institutions, such as the Φιλαρμονική Ορχήστρα Κορίνθου. Lessons are offered free of charge by the Καλογεροπούλειο Ίδρυμα in its welcoming spaces, under the artistic direction and teaching of Παναγιώτης Θεοδοσίου.

A group that has by now become a family

The first positive and encouraging results weren't long in coming, despite the difficulties of the pandemic these past few years. The orchestra's members, aged 10 to 20, now make up not just a working group within the Ωδείο's student framework, but above all a "family" with the Καλογεροπούλειο as its home. They come to rehearsals with enthusiasm and selflessness, aiming to "build" their sound, their character, and their relationships within this wonderful group.

The Νεανική Μαθητική Ορχήστρα του Καλογεροπούλειου has performed at the Δημοτικό Θέατρο Κορίνθου as part of the Δήμος Κορινθίων's Christmas 2021 festive events, as well as at the Τριήμερο Φεστιβάλ Σύγχρονης Μουσικής, held by the Κέντρο Σύγχρονης Μουσικής Έρευνας in December 2021 at the Ωδείο Αθηνών. It has been officially invited to take part in the 16ο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Αίγινας. Its repertoire includes recorded works by J. Strauss, E. Satie, G. Holst. D, Shostakovitch, H. Purcell, H. Mancini and Π. Θεοδοσίου.
