Villagers of Ioannina City (VIC): Revival Acoustic Tour 2021

A big part of that will be played by the Revival Acoustic Tour 2021, of Villagers of Ioannina City. The band from Ioannina will play three shows on Athenian soil and 8 in total, across several cities in Greece.

Musical journeys in a different style

The musical tour of VIC in Athens kicks off on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Κατράκειο Θέατρο in Νίκαια. It continues at Θέατρο Πέτρας in Πετρούπολη, on Friday, September 17, while the Athenian tour wraps up with the concert at Θέατρο Βράχων, on Saturday, September 25.

At the Revival Acoustic Tour 2021 we'll get the chance to catch the well-known band with an acoustic setlist. A pretty different style of live performance from what the 'Χωριάτες' have gotten us used to.

VIC: Constant changes after Age of Aquarius

The Villagers of Ioannina City seem to be in a process of change, constantly trying out new things. Having become known for 'RIZA' and their effort to modernize traditional Greek music, they recently unveiled their latest record. The album is titled 'Age of Aquarius’ and marks a turn from everything we knew about the band up until now.

VIC stick to the same familiar recipe. A blend of heavy sound, beautiful melodic lines and captivating vocals. All of this together with the use of traditional instruments (like the clarinet and the tsambouna), which is what made the band known in the first place. The first major change comes with the fact that now, these instruments, along with the influences that come with them, take more of a background role in the band's songs. The second, and more important one, is that VIC now present us with an album made up entirely of their own compositions.

It remains to be seen, then, whether the Revival Acoustic Tour is a continuation of the band's changes and experiments, which so far have proven to be a resounding success. Book your ticket right away, through the event page by High Priority Promotions.
