The Tales of the Old presented the album 'The Book Of Chaos'. The record was released on September 17, 2021 by Pride & Joy Music.
Michalis Tzanakis's return to the studio is official!
After his first steps back in 2010 with the demo "Beware", after the interesting musical follow-up he gave us with the EP "The Passageway From Heaven To Hell", and after 8 years of hard struggle, untold difficulties and obstacles (a period during which Tales Of The Old essentially didn't exist), Tzanakis decided to overhaul the whole band and give birth to his dream with new members, a new reality, and a completely new vision!
So the recreation of Tales Of The Old took flesh and bone, and their first complete full length album has come to make its debut and join the band's already impressive discographical library. "Book Of The Chaos" was released via Pride & Joy Music and consists of 11 songs, the result of collaboration with many great musicians such as Sakis Tolis, Fabio Lione, Alexandros Louziotis, Christina Alexiou, Androniki Skoula, Bob Katsionis and many others. Bob Katsionis in particular played a major role on this record, since besides being a guest star, he also served as co-producer, and Tales Of The Old rightly give him plenty of credit for the making of this album!
Itching to hit play
With so many names spilling onto the table, every listener's impatience is bound to be huge, and there's no holding back from hitting play. The same happened to me when I got this record in my hands. I knew this was something really good. I could feel it in the atmosphere, I could see it in the album's cover, it was conjured up by the aura of all these big names who contributed to its creation. And of course, once I hit play, I wasn't disappointed. The playing techniques and the musicians' collaboration exceed expectations. They've gelled so well that from start to finish they grab you, pin you against the wall, and give you 110% of their abilities, making you savour even the tiniest musical detail they've added to this album.
Michalis Tzanakis clearly knows who to pick to stand by his side and exactly how to work with each of them to create and deliver this top-tier level. And that top-tier level shows up both in the heavy tracks and the more relaxed ones, as well as in the instrumental that fits seamlessly into the record's flow. It genuinely blows your mind through a power symphonic dark metal style that's been faithfully served in every aspect. It brings to mind something of Rhapsody, Nightwish and Therion, but the musicians on "The Book Of Chaos" have made it their own and forged a personal character for the album, one that breaks away from the usual stereotypes of the above genres and bands. It's something unique! Something built out of the traits of many great musicians, and you won't easily find its like out there again!
In conclusion
Tales Of The Old's debut album, going by the name "The Book Of Chaos", is simply devastating! It's worth listening to all 11 tracks that make it up, because you'll enjoy them without getting bored for even a minute! It's a gem of the Greek music scene that shouldn't be missing from any record collection! Just get it!
