Album Preview: The Silent Rage – Nuances of Life

On Friday 13 Ιανουαρίου 2023, The Silent Rage The Silent Rage held the preview of their new album at Underground Music Studio Underground Music Studio, in Peristeri. This new album is titled 'Nuances of Life' and is expected to be released in Spring 2023.

A few words about the band

Founded by guitarist Νίκο Σιγλίδη in February of 2006 and so far they have released one full-length album ("The Deadliest Scourge"; Alone Records, 2016), two self-financed EP's ("The Silent Rage", 2009 & "Harvester Of Souls", 2011), three self-financed splits ("Silent Illusion", 2013; "Closer To Wisdom's Fading Scars", 2014 & "When Chaos Reigned", 2017), one 7" Single ("My Race Won't Last [2018 Edition]; NuN Records), one digital single ("Harvester Of Souls MMXXI", 2021) while they have also participated in three compilations.

"The Deadliest Scourge" "The Deadliest Scourge" as an honorary distinction had taken twelfth (12) place on the list of the best albums of 2016 in the Canadian magazine The Headbanging Moose.  Over the course of their journey The Silent Rage The Silent Rage have managed to share the stage with bands such as Shadow Gallery, Rage, Grave Digger, Stratovarius, Rotting Christ, Temperance, Primal Fear, Gus G., Destruction, Sabaton, Blind Guardian, Epica and Symphonity among others.

An album full of strong tracks

The album kicks off with 'The Serpent Lord' and 'Code of Destruction', two tracks that stand out for their beautiful vocal lines, their epic character and melodic riffs that get carved into your mind. The baton is then passed to 'Carve Your Rage', in which excellent use is made of double vocals, giving the track a whole other dimension. Special mention should go to the background riff after the solo.

'Crows Fly Back': One of the tracks that caught our attention!

The track has haunting vocals in the pre-chorus, excellent high notes in the chorus, and verses with a clipped rhythm that adds tension. Here the band's frontman shows he's got some nice rasp in his 'engine'. The album continues with 'Another Fallen Dreamland‘, ‘Scarlet Dawn‘, ‘The Man in the Mirror' and 'Exhaling Fear'. These contain a mix of powerful rhythms, tempo changes and highly interesting melodies. Especially on 'The Man in the Mirror' the lead parts carry a strong whiff of Zakk Wylde!

'Ghost of a Wayward God' & 'Black Monday (July 23rd, 2018)'

Perhaps the most important tracks on the album. The first easily rivals 'Crows Fly Back' for our favourite track on the album. With its solo and chorus standing out, there's an impressive melodic line and durations that build tension. It's an epic track, plain and simple. On the other hand, 'Black Monday' is a song that gathers up all the sorrow surrounding the tragic events of the fire in Mati. With keys that launch its dynamics skyward, a voice that sounds like a lament, and a change in style halfway through, it's certainly one of the most beautiful tracks on the album.

Three tracks to close out the album

The album wraps up with 'Nuances of Life‘, ‘Defy The Headhunters' and 'Harvester Of Souls MMXXI'. All three are aggressive tracks, with powerful vocals and impressive solos. To close out our thoughts on this album, we can't fail to give special mention to the mix, thanks to which the vocals are crystal clear and the instruments 'weave together' just right. The musical result is fast, precise and full-bodied. 'Nuances of Life' has it all and nothing goes to waste. The Silent Rage The Silent Rage continue their strong trajectory with this, their second album, and leave us eagerly awaiting its arrival!

Information about Nuances of Life

This is the second album for the Athenian power metal outfit. Production and mixing by Fotis Benardo (Nightfall, SepticFlesh, Melechesh) once again at Devasoundz Studios in Athens. Mastering was handled by Γιώργος Νεραντζής (Pain Of Salvation, Abbath, Dark Funeral). The cover art and overall layout of the album is the work of Γιάννης Νάκος of Remedy Art Design (Evergrey, Amaranthe, Oceans Of Slumber). 

Guest appearances on the album come from Stu Block (Annihilator, Into Eternity, ex-Iced Earth), Harry "Tyrant" Conklin (Jag Panzer, The Three Tremors) & Bob Katsionis (Warrior Path, Stray Gods, ex-Firewind). The video clip for the track "The Serpent Lord" was directed by Bob Katsionis of Progressive Vision Group (PVG). The band also included two bonus tracks for this release, "Defy The Headhunters" & "Harvester Of Souls (Re-mastered)". The album bears the signature of Scarlet Records (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
