The beloved artists are backing the work of MDA Ελλάς, "Association for the Care of People with Neuromuscular Diseases", joining their voices for a good cause! Νίκος Πορτοκάλογλου and Ρένα Μόρφη sing at the Βεάκειο Δημοτικό Θέατρο Πειραιά, on September 20th at 21.00.

Top songwriter Νίκος Πορτοκάλογλου, whose presence on the Greek music scene is rare in both longevity and creativity, and the outstanding performer Ρένα Μόρφη, who started out with the band Ιμάμ Μπαϊλντί before going on to a hugely successful solo career, come together at the Βεάκειο on September 20th at 21.00, joining their voices to support the work of MDA Ελλάς.
This summer, Νίκος Πορτοκάλογλου and Ρένα Μόρφη are celebrating three years of the show "Μουσικό Κουτί". The concert-celebration at the Βεάκειο Θέατρο will feature the best-known songs from both artists' repertoires, as well as selected highlights from the show's memorable opening segments. Νίκος masterfully blends the most unexpected Greek and foreign songs, performing them together with Ρένα, along with some of their favourite songs in new arrangements.
Joining them are Βύρων Τσουράπης, Λάμπης Κουντουρόγιαννης, Θανάσης Τσακιράκης, and a team of outstanding musicians.
Proceeds from the concert will go towards improving the quality of life of MDA members with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The aim is to create a pilot programme providing home-based palliative care.
Through this programme, the Association seeks to ensure the conditions that promote a life of quality and dignity for both the patient and their family.
A few words about MDA Ελλάς:
MDA Ελλάς, the Association for the Care of People with Neuromuscular Diseases (NMD), was founded in Athens in January 2000, with the aim of improving the living conditions of its Members. MDA's statutory purpose is to offer its Members, most of whom are young, opportunities for better integration and equal participation in society.
NMDs are rare conditions, mainly of genetic origin, that affect the muscular system. Severity and clinical presentation vary between conditions. Many lead to the use of a wheelchair, while others do not. Today, more than 1,500 families nationwide are registered with MDA Ελλάς, some of which have more than one Member affected by illness.
MDA has not received, and never has received, any state funding throughout the course of its work. As a result, all its activities are carried out thanks to the goodwill of private initiative.
