By Dimitris (Bari) Polyzois

Good evening and congratulations on your new video clip for "Azrael"... a really great track and clip! Your debut album is coming out soon! How are you feeling?
Λ.Σ. 'Proud of the work the band has done.'
Β.Κ. 'Great, we worked hard to finish it even though it got pushed back because of the coronavirus. You feel something is released the moment an album is finished and comes out.'
You seem like a special case of a band, since you took quite a while to get to your first work and yet you already have a personal style and a lot of maturity! Have your studies helped you gain confidence about that? Tell us about your journey from a young age.
Λ.Σ. 'I didn't study as a kid, I just had a guitar and messed around with it with my friends. I started lessons and studying properly at a fairly advanced age.'
Β.Κ. 'Everything's been done already, it's hard to come up with something that hasn't been heard. The important thing is to have good songs, to do the best you can at the present moment, that's how you evolve.'
How would you describe your music?
Λαμπρός. 'Not to be exact about it, melodic blackened death metal.'
What can we expect on the live front once we've hopefully gotten past the problems with the virus that's been plaguing all our lives?
Λ.Σ. 'If there are opportunities you'll see us live too, and there are ideas about the staging and the style of the performance.'
What do you think are the essential ingredients for a band's success?
Λ.Σ. 'Hard work and dedication.'
Β.Κ. 'There's a lot that needs to happen if by success we mean the band being able to live off its music. Definitely a lot of work on every front and a bit of luck.'
Tell us a bit about the people behind your upcoming album. Where was it recorded and who took part in the recording?
Λ.Σ. 'Pre-production, recording and production of the album were done by Βασίλης at his personal studio KOSKI. On the songs we had the pleasure of having good friends and excellent musicians take part, such as Λία κολιτα, Toni Hakkata and Σπύρος xthugisx'
Even though your band certainly wants to convey something personal, could you tell us some artists that have influenced who you are today?
Λ.Σ. 'For me definitely behemoth, hate, rotting Christ, slipknot and amon amarth.'
Β.Κ. 'There are a lot of bands I could mention, but subconsciously there's whatever I've been listening to since I started listening to metal, and somehow it always comes out through the music.'
What do you enjoy most? The hours of composing, the hours of recording, or the hours of playing live?
Λ.Σ. 'Composing, the way we "connect" while working on an idea or a song is really special.'
Β.Κ. 'Each one has its own pleasure, I like all the processes for different reasons. But we learned music because we saw someone up on stage, and for me live shows are definitely the best and the most direct contact with people.'

How do you see the Greek scene today? Have things improved compared to the past, and what do you think still needs to change? If you like, tell us some bands that stand out to you!
Λ.Σ. 'The Greek scene has quite a few notable bands putting out very high-quality work, there's passion and love for the music and for creating. Without wanting to leave anyone out, I'll mention hail spirit noir, Aherusia and acherontas.'
Β.Κ. 'I don't see it working together as one scene, like for example the Finnish scene, where when it started developing everyone was there at the same time — bands, magazines, studios, everyone, even the state. It's a matter of mentality here, and the clique phenomenon is everywhere.'
What would be the biggest dream for the MIND ERASURE lineup? Achievable or not?
Λαμπρός. 'I don't like setting goals I can't achieve. A big dream would be to play some major festival, like bloodstock.'
What do you like to do in your free time? Usually music eats up all of musicians' free time. Is that true for you?
Λαμπρός. 'I spend my free time on outdoor activities. We still train in Brazilian jujitsu and I play D&D.'
Β.Κ. 'Apart from music I like traveling to places I haven't been. I hope that happens while on tour at some point too.'
Thank you very much for the interview. The closing words are yours.
Λαμπρός. 'Thank you for your time and the interview.'
