On stage we found The Silent Wedding, in a truly excellent live show! Joining them were Destiny Calls and Beyond The River.
Kicking things off with Beyond The River and Destiny Calls
First act on our list and on the night's bill were Beyond The River! The show at Piraeus Academy was their very first. The prog metal band was a blank page for us. With a commanding stage presence and two lead vocalists, they managed to give us a taste of their upcoming debut record. Their sound was multifaceted and gave off many dimensions. With two guitars and keys, Beyond have the potential to keep us busy in the future. We're waiting eagerly for their album!
Next up on the night were Destiny Calls. Just like with the previous act, we had no idea what to expect sound- and material-wise. Especially on the material front, there was no mention of any record we should be looking out for. At the same time, the band is pretty fresh, having only formed a year ago. None of the above discouraged either the members or the crowd from getting a taste of what these guys can do musically. More specifically, Destiny Calls is an act that moves within the Hard Rock spectrum. They have quite a few interesting musical elements drawn from classic influences, as well as fresh ideas.
The band left us with quite a good impression and we'll certainly be waiting to see what they bring to the table next.

The Silent Wedding in a headline show we'd been waiting a long time for!
And finally, it was time for the main course of the evening, with Piraeus Academy shaking to its foundations! The The Silent Wedding took to the stage and gave us about an hour and a half of powerful melodies. Specifically, their setlist featured songs from every one of their albums, with the night wrapping up with sounds from their newest, Ego Path. A personal highlight of the night were my favourite tracks off this record, Sea of Fate and Caught in the Web.
This wasn't the first time we'd seen the band and it certainly won't be the last! The Silent have handled the changes they've made to the lineup and their sound very skillfully. The addition of second vocals gives off multiple sonic dimensions. The important part of this is how targeted it is. Compositionally, additions have been made only, and exactly, where they should be. And that's where the keys come in, playing a dynamic role on Ego Path and 'building' yet another musical dimension.
By now it's clear that The Silent Wedding are going through their most mature and musically fruitful period yet. Their sound is fuller than ever and their material multifaceted. All of this has us waiting with huge anticipation for their next musical steps!
