On a night of powerful sound, Fuzzy Hound was at Piraeus Club Academy (Facebook), where 4 acts of the Metalcore scene swept us up in their rhythm. All of this as part of the Make Metalcore Great Again Concert.
Sound that conquers you!
It's pretty special when a night has such a specific goal. And this one had the goal of supersizing the scene's sound. The bands looked like they had their game face on from the get-go! Kiss Me Cleopatra, Till Silence Breaks, Nonlinear and Lavender gave it their all on stage and proved to us the power of metalcore.
With the night kicking off with Lavender, it became obvious that what followed would be just as powerful. With their excellent sound and their gorgeous vocal trade-offs, they showed us that they're one of the names we'll be keeping an eye on in the future. The same goes for Nonlinear, who managed to pull off some great shifts within their tracks. Special mention has to go to the clean vocals of the band's guitarist, which several times brought to mind Linkin Park! Frequency-wise, I'd say the bass came out a bit too "up front" in certain spots and a touch too treble-heavy for my taste. Apart from that though, the band won me over without a second thought.
Moving into part two...
Next up were Till Silence Breaks. With huge ease on stage, the band kicked off their setlist and delivered it with a ton of energy. The most important thing about Silence is the way they structure their songs. Powerful drums, plenty of rhythm shifts, and a mix of growled and clean vocals. Especially for the latter, what's even more impressive is that all of it comes from the same frontman.
And speaking of which, after the cameo appearance by the singer of Kiss Me Cleopatra during Silence's setlist, the excellent Kiss Me took the stage in the mood to deliver great music and plenty of laughs. Kicking off their set with a cover of 'Gucci Φόρεμα', they moved on into a much more serious and focused style. Their music hooks you from the first second. Still, we have to point out that the band has an excellent stage presence and movement, which draws all eyes during a live show.
Wrapping up, let's say a couple of words about the sound, which once again was excellent at Piraeus Academy. Leaving, we can say the night was jam-packed and left us with a really good impression. But one thing's for sure, 4 excellent acts landed on our radar, and we can't wait to see them again.
