By Dimitris (Bari) Polyzois

With plenty of enthusiasm, Saturday 28.01.23, we decided to head to An Club (Facebook, Instagram) for the live show of three bands of huge musical interest. We're talking about Allochiria, the Sadhus "The Smoking Community" and Plankton, three acts with a strong progressive metal streak.
An excellent event at a legendary venue
As a music lover, I enjoy being present at every concert and music festival I manage to catch. However, every time I have on my schedule a trip to An Club, I get even more excited. The place is soaked in the music and talent that has played there. It's one of the biggest clubs, one that hosts some really heavy-hitting events from time to time! So, together with my friend and colleague Παναγιώτης, we headed down to ΑΝ to enjoy this event. As for the live show, I had limited familiarity with the music of all three acts. But there was a huge willingness to taste what the musicians wanted to show us, and that gave us extra motivation.
Plankton: Dynamic metal forged from heavy sound!
The night kicked off with a fresh new act! The Plankton treated us to some of their tracks and gave us about an hour of music with punchy riffs and a 'muddy' sound! They showed they're totally at ease on stage and, at the same time, that they have the potential to create something really good. This band definitely has influences from Sadhus, since former members of theirs are in the line-up, but they still offer their own musical take on Progressive / Doom Metal. If I had to suggest an idea for a future direction for Plankton , it would be to try exploring some more intense, progressive rhythmic elements in their tracks, something that could add a lot of variety to their songs.

Sadhus "The Smoking Community": An act that stirs up huge emotions
The night continued with Sadhus. From the very first minute they stepped on stage, it was clear to the crowd that their music was about to sweep us away. With outstanding attitude and a sound that rattles your very existence, they had us begging for one more track. The Sadhus are something unique. I'd compare them to the force of nature! That raw energy found in a natural phenomenon like a storm or a hurricane. With a bleak sound, they manage not only to get you into their rhythm, but also to stir up deep emotions in you. The rhythmic backbone is also impressive, with the drums playing an outstanding role thanks to their constant shifts.
The band has managed to craft tracks that catch the listener off guard. The blend of the progressive element with doom metal, the heavy sound and the growly vocals are what make Sadhus come across as something unique. Saturday's performance well and truly put the band on our radar, and we can't wait to see them on stage again.

Allochiria: Distinctive style and outstanding performances
The night reached its end with the arrival of Allochiria, an act whose lyrical themes carry a lot of everyday social elements. Musically, they were excellent. With their tracks split between clean, atmospheric melodies and distorted sound, they manage to bridge the atmospheric element with doom in their songs. The Allochiria have really beautiful musical ideas, inseparably tied to their themes. At the same time, on stage the band showed great energy, which they drew from the crowd's reactions.
Getting the chance to also present some of their new tracks that will be on their upcoming record, we could say that in the clean parts of the songs there's a sense that some clean vocals could be added. (Probably more than they already have!). Maybe an addition like that could give the tracks more intensity. Beyond that, the dynamic present in the music of Allochiria is excellent. The chemistry between the musicians is very strong and it drives the crowd to feel every note they play. For Λαγωνικό, Allochiria are yet another act that caught our attention. An act we'll not only be waiting on for their upcoming record, but also can't wait to see on stage again.
