Live Report: Acid Death, Death Courier, Selefice | 16.02.26

On a rare night that will surely stay with us forever, three legendary outfits of the Death Metal scene took to the stage of Piraeus Academy (Facebook, Instagram) and treated us to an unforgettable live show! The Λαγωνικό was there among the crowd on Sunday night (15.02.26) and brings you the vibe of the gig! 

Selefice: With stories straight out of Lovecraft!

True to their schedule, Selefice took to the stage and kicked off the night's musical journey! For me personally, it was the first time I'd come into contact with the music of all three bands in a live setting. From that very first contact, Selefice proved why they're considered so important in the Metal scene. With years behind them, their sound is impressive and the stories they paint with their songs are seriously powerful. Even though they appeared on the Piraeus stage with a relatively short setlist, they managed to get the crowd raving and moving to their rhythm.

The highlight of their set, in our opinion, was the song they closed with. It was the track titled 'Θάνατε', a metal song with really powerful Greek lyrics that grabbed our attention.

Death Courier: From Patras with love!

With the crowd waiting impatiently, Death Courier took to the stage with one aim: to blow our minds! And they pulled it off on every level! With outstanding stage presence and a short but very potent setlist, they showed us they've got plenty of future ahead of them. The band from Patras were incredibly tight musically and their compositions were really interesting. Death Courier managed to keep the night's musical flame burning bright and carried the crowd away with them. 

With compositions that, at least early on, drew their main subject matter from serial killer stories, they proved they were rock solid on the musical front. We're definitely looking forward to their future compositions, and to the chance to hear them again at upcoming shows.

Acid Death: On to the main course!

Closing out the night, taking to the stage were Acid Death. And somewhere around then the crowd surrendered to the band's powerhouse melodies. A very solid performance, with a setlist split thematically into two parts, Acid Death gave their absolute best for everyone in attendance! Having just marked 15 years since their reunion, this show was a journey through time, since they played us songs from both their first and their second era.

The Acid Death are an outfit with a long history. They've evolved their music and they keep on producing songs with real compositional substance. Heading into this new era, their sound remains excellent and multi-dimensional! This show definitely left us counting the days until the next time we get to see them.
