Ghostlands & Ravenlands festival 2023 | Κύτταρο Live Club | 14.01.23

It has its roots in Caravan Of Shadows Festival, a touring festival, with its two editions taking place, initially in the city of Κέρκυρας and at Graal in May of 2017 and the second one held in December of 2019 in Athens and at Ίλιον Plus. Since the location of its third instalment hasn't been announced yet, the members of The Silent Rage created Ghostlands & Ravenlands Festival, which is expected to take place every year in Athens, with bands from the whole spectrum of melodic and not only metal. Five metal bands are meeting up at Κύτταρο Live Club, on 14.01.23, for an exceptional night!

The Silent Rage

Headlining the night will be modern power metallers The Silent Rage. The band was formed in February of 2006 by guitarist Νίκο Σιγλίδη. Since then the band has released one full length album ("The Deadliest Scourge", 2016) two self-funded EPs ("The Silent Rage", 2009 & "Harvester Of Souls", 2011), one 7" ["My Race Won't Last (2018 Edition)"] and one digital single ("Harvester Of Souls MMXXI"). They recently finished production of their second record, which is expected to come out within 2023. 

In its journey so far the band has shared the stage with acts such as Shadow Gallery, the Rage, the Grave Digger, the Stratovarius, the Rotting Christ, the Temperance, the Primal Fear, the Gus G & the Destruction. The 2022 found the band taking part in the Release Athens Festival alongside Sabaton, Blind Guardian & Epica while it made its first appearance on British soil, in the city of Birmingham, appearing at the Power Metal Quest Fest.

Primal Roots

The Primal Roots are a multinational band, based in Athens, whose members hail from Great Britain, Sweden, Tunisia and Spain! They were formed in 2019 and set out to create their own music based on classic heavy metal, enriched with elements drawn from progressive, melodic, doom and nu metal, forming their distinctive style, “metal outside the box”. They themselves released their first single in 2020 titled “Black”, which was followed by their debut album “Stand Up” released in July of 2022.

Dakesis

The Dakesis, who are the special guests of the night, are a progressive metal band based in Birmingham in Great Britain. They were formed in 2008 and at the same time the self-titled, limited-edition four-track EP of theirs was also released, in January of 2009 while two years later their debut album came out titled "Trial By Fire", which received rave reviews. Following the success the record enjoyed, the band initially found itself touring extensively and playing festivals both inside and outside Great Britain. Their second record titled "The New Dawn" came out in March of 2016 while the band's most recent work and third album overall is "Fractures", which was released in March of 2020.

Kosmogonia

The Kosmogonia is a melodic death/folk metal band based in Athens, which was founded in 2015. In its first period the band played melodic thrash, releasing a demo track titled "Fallen Pegasus", which was then followed by its first EP, with tracks such as "Fallen Pegasus", "Nobody's Safe", "Opium Of Hallucination" among others. During that period and up until 2019 the band was preparing its first record, while also playing quite a few gigs in Greece at festivals.

The record bears the title “Enthrone The Gods” and released it in July of 2020. The following year finds the band starting to compose their second record. Right now the band is in the final stages of recording their second album, which they intend to release both as an album and in the form of a novel. Both the record and the book are expected to be ready for release within 2023.

Solid Faith

Opening the night are expected to be Solid Faith, a progressive metal band from Athens who, after several years' absence, made a strong comeback in December of 2017 and since then have racked up quite a few live shows at well-known venues in Athens, including collaborations with well-known bands of the Greek heavy metal scene. A landmark moment came in 2020 as the band released their first album, “Eternal Quest”, through Alone Records from Thessaloniki. With three official lyric videos and one video clip, Solid Faith garnered very good reviews both from Greece and abroad, powering on. This period finds them working on the groundwork for their second album.
