The progressive / symphonic metal band, on the occasion of their album 'Axiom of Choice', reveal themselves to us, in an exclusive interview with Fuzzy Hound.

Guys, thanks for joining us on Fuzzy Hound. First, tell us a bit about the vision and journey of Fragment Soul, from the beginning up until now. How do you yourselves see this journey so far?
'First of all, thank you for having us! Vision and journey are intertwined concepts for us. Our goal is to give people experiences through music, so it can be there for them in these difficult times.'
Your most recent release is the album Axiom Of Choice. What's been the response to this work so far? Are you happy with how things have gone?
'We're really happy with how warmly people have embraced this first work of ours. It gives us strength to keep going. "Satisfied" is putting it mildly for this response.'
Tell us a bit about this work and what sparked it. When did you compose the tracks and on what basis did you pick them for the album?
'Fragment Soul and Axiom of Choice is a work that came after many trials for me and Δημήτρης Λούβρος. The way we compose is based on the concept of Axiom of Choice. So the tracks came out in line with the needs of the Concept's shifting emotions above all.'
The album comes with a companion book of stories, Choice Sequence. How did that idea come about? Did it have anything to do with composing the tracks?
'Yes, the book Choice Sequence is a more detailed development of the concept of Axiom of Choice. We felt this book had to come out for those who want to dig deeper into understanding the lyrics.'
Your musical style is very dark. Does it come from lived experience? Tell us more about that.
'Sure, our influences come from similar genres in the scene. And yes, definitely from various life situations, each of us expressed these experiences in a "dark" but also melancholic – nostalgic way.'
The pandemic situation has created new conditions for musicians. How did you deal with the situation?
'We're trying to make the best choices for the band.
At this stage for Fragment Soul , the pandemic is holding back the live shows we had planned, but on the other hand it's giving us the chance to start our 2nd album.'

Tell me a bit about your influences. Which bands are a musical model for you?
'Our model band is Pink Floyd. For many reasons, but mainly for how they set high standards for the production and creation of each of their records.
Bands like Pink Floyd, Katatonia, My dying bride, Opeth, Steven Wilson, King Crimson have influenced us to the utmost.'
What method do you follow for composing material?
'We find it comfortable and we like starting out with the concept the record will follow already set, and then, through a process of analysis, lyrics and music get written.'
Live shows are frozen solid, and of course the situation heading into winter remains uncertain once again. Are there plans for live shows for Fragment Soul?
'Yes, as I mentioned before there are plans, but we're waiting to see how things develop.'
What other plans do Fragment Soul have going forward? What should we expect in the near future, and also the longer term?
'For sure, a big chapter for Fragment Soul is the stage presentation of the tracks, as well as finishing the composition of the 2nd record, which I can tell you we've already started.'
Guys, thank you so much for the chat. The last words are yours, in whatever way you like…
'We should be thanking you for this lovely chat, and we're looking forward to meeting you at some live show!'
