It looks like the new year has kicked off with surprises for music lovers everywhere, and specifically for fans of Foo Fighters, who released the second taste from their much-anticipated new record "Medicine At Midnight".
This is the song "No Son Of Mine", which you can listen to in the video below.
First steps
The American rock band was formed in 1994 in Seattle, Washington. The core member is former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl. The group took its name from "Foo fighter", a nickname coined by Allied airplane pilots for UFOs and other aerial phenomena. Over the course of their career, Foo Fighters have won 12 Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Album four times. The band has also won one American Music Award, four Brit Awards, and two MTV Video Music Awards.
Before the release of Foo Fighters' debut album in 1995, 'Foo Fighters', Grohl recruited bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith. Both had previously been members of Sunny Day Real Estate. He also brought in Nirvana's touring guitarist, Pat Smear. The band started out playing shows in Portland, Oregon. Goldsmith left during the recording of their second album, The Color and the Shape (1997), when most of the drum tracks were re-recorded by Grohl. Smear departed shortly after, but showed up as a guest with the band from 2006 and returned for good in 2011.
No Son of Mine
This new track follows "Shame Shame", which the band released back in November. Both are laying the groundwork for revealing the successful band's next album after "Concrete And Gold".
Following the release, Dave Grohl had this to say about the track:
"This is the kind of song that lives inside all of us, and when the time is right, we let it out. Lyrically, we wanted to expose the hypocrisy of supposedly infallible leaders, people who are guilty of committing the very crimes they claim to be fighting against."
The full record "Medicine At Midnight" is expected to be released on February 5, 2021 through the record label Roswell Records/RCA Records.
