New record from Even Flow! The Italian progressive rockers released the album titled 'Mediterraneo', a record with very strong compositions. The Italian proggers Even Flow shine a "Ray of Light" ('A Ray of Light') with their next single from the upcoming EP "Mediterraneo"….
By Dimitris (Bari) Polyzois

The record was released on October 3, 2022.
New EP, the sixth in the series
The new record from Even Flow "Mediterraneo", follows the three EPs "Dream Weaver” (2008), “Mother" (2019) and "Flower Paths" (2013), and the two albums "Life Has Just Begun" (2017) and "Ancient Memories" (2011). On "Mediterreano" the band approaches the record with progressive metal in rhythm, with vocal lines oriented towards power metal and with influences from the 80s.
On the music
The five songs that make up the record are wonderfully uplifting anthems that sweep you away from the world of your problems and worries into an enthralling musical realm of dreams. The songs are compact and finely crafted, but seem to contain a constantly expanding universe to explore within their duration.
For example, the title track, 'Mediterraneo', is perhaps the crowning achievement of the EP, building through multiple layers, each one more captivating than the last. In fact, every note from the first bombastic chords that introduce the opening 'Ocean Lies' up to the final spiraling guitar solo of 'Mediterraneo' is pure melodic, progressive metal perfection.

On the themes
Starting with the single 'A Ray of Light', the lyrics of the track speak of love for a girl. It's characterized by a clean guitar intro, along with keyboards that create very beautiful melodies. At the end, the guitar sound harmonizations create a sound somewhat influenced by Arabic music. The subject matter of the rest of the EP's tracks moves along the same lines. Lyrically, it speaks of love, hope, sorrow and joy for the future.

In conclusion
'Mediterraneo' is a record that impresses. From the very first listen you'll be able to grasp its complexity and the variety of its melodies. Whichever way you approach it, whether from the perspective of production or of the compositions, Even Flow deliver a very beautifully crafted record. The album needs quite a few 'spins' to notice every little detail. But it's truly worth dedicating the time to enjoy a collection which, at least to my ears, comes across as masterful.
