Behind the mysterious name
Right off the bat, starting with the composer's name, we can definitely say it's shrouded in a dark veil! Behind Death Dweller, or in other words the man who dwells in death, is Δημήτρης Χατζησταμάτης. The well-known producer and guitarist gives us a very special piece of work. This is Δημήτρης' first metal composition, and it's entirely his own creation from top to bottom! Specifically, the composer has written and performed the guitar parts and the bass parts. Finally, the vocal parts are also performed by him!
From a musical standpoint
'Torment' is a track that moves along Death and Progressive Metal paths. Dynamic rhythm, bass with real heft, and guitar parts capable of stirring you up. Following on from all of the above, it would be a mistake to think the song lacks melody. Quite the opposite, the composition is packed with melodic elements, something confirmed by the solo, which is grounded in classic metal principles. Wrapping up, the vocals give the whole endeavour an excellent punch. Full of growls, they'll wake your worst nightmares and make you think the singer is a Nazgul!
'Torment' has successfully whetted our appetite for the upcoming EP. Δημήτρης Χατζησταμάτης makes a powerful start to his solo career with this work, while at the same time showing us what musical stuff he's made of! So, while we wait for 'Born of Stars‘.
