When I first heard music coming out of the speaker, I can say it was love at first sight, or if you prefer, at first listen. The first love. I knew from that day on that this thing called music would accompany me for my whole life.
Music was an inseparable part of every moment of my life. It was the first love.
Through first loves, first heartbreaks, first exams, the loss of loved ones, big achievements — music was always right there beside me, "dressing up" every moment in a unique way. Who hasn't linked the important moments of their life to a song, after all? Every song, every melody has this magical ability to conjure up feelings out of nowhere, something that hardly anything else in life manages to pull off.
"Music is the only religion that delivers on all its promises"
So said the late Frank Zappa, and honestly, out of the thousands of quotes written about music, this one might be the only one that speaks for me completely. Music never lets you down. Music saves lives, our lives, which nowadays have lost their value. In an age dominated by grey, music comes along and gives it colour and vibrancy. Music is pure, true love.
