From the banks of the Danube
The Jakub Tirco is a Slovak musician and producer living in Prague, Czech Republic. With his main focus on instrumental, guitar-driven music, he released a post-rock inspired EP in 2020 titled 'Noises & Colours'. On this he collaborated with drummer Adam Janzi from the VOLA for the track ‘Polarized‘. Then, in 2021, he participated in the album Beat Saber”s OST4 on the track ‘IntoThe Dream (feat. Jakub Tirco)‘. After four singles, among which a special collaboration with Baard Kolstad of Leprous on the song “The End of All Things“, Jakub Tirco released his new instrumental album “Alaska” on July 29.

Focused mainly on guitar
‘Alaska‘ shows a clear tendency to focus on the guitar itself. A need that springs from its creator himself. But don't go thinking this is an album with nothing but endless guitar solos. Plenty of interesting musical elements are woven into it. Whether it's odd timestamps, octaves, strangely processed synths and vocals, or rich ambient sounds. These are the things that immediately grab the listener's attention. These are also the elements that best describe the content of this album.
Whichever way you look at it, ‘Alaska‘ consists of 9 tracks with dreamy compositions. Tracks like “Saudede” to epic powerful finales like in “Cocaine Lipstick” or “Hiraeth“.
A very talented musician
From the first times I listened to the album, I understood that Jakub Tirco is a very talented guitarist with a unique touch on the guitar. The compositions on ‘Alaska‘ have excellent shifts and great complexity. While he presents us with a record with the guitar at its center, at no point does the music feel tiring. The subtlety with which the guitar parts have been placed within the tracks deserves congratulations. And ultimately, this is also what makes the record easy and beautiful to listen to. I suggest you let yourself get lost in Jakub's melodies. It truly is worth it!
