Ex:Re, the much-loved personal project of Daughter's Elena Tonra, has released its second album, “Save As”.
Tonra had not originally intended to record a second Ex:Re album. When she released her first solo record in 2018, she considered the chapter closed.
Save As does not follow a single narrative. Instead Tonra turns her attention once again to the fine, often punishing workings of memory. “My memory isn't always very good,” she admits. Through her songs she tries to preserve images and feelings that would otherwise be lost.
The album is produced by Fabian Prynn, with Josephine Stephenson on cello, Hinako Omori on synthesisers and Ben Reed on bass.
The singles “Sleep”, “Radio Station” and “Am I Even Real?” have already been released.
Out now on 4AD.
